The Boiled Egg Paradox

When we hear the word egg, first thing that comes in our mind is a nice egg fry with an intact yolk. It is a vital part of our daily consumption. We take egg in so many ways. From bread toast to ice cream dessert- it’s all egg. But there is an antipathy towards it. Why people throw eggs when they are disgusted? (Vegemite jars makes so much better choice.)

Wikipedia has a slightly different view of egg. Even internet search results of ‘egg’ show a deliberate repugnance towards it. Wikipedia says-

an egg (Latin, ovum) is the zygote, resulting from fertilization of the ovum.

What could be a more disgusting way to describe an egg? Our perception of egg is a lot different from any of its online definitions. Wiki was not done. Its other descriptions are

Strange enough none of them acknowledge egg as food. With more and more new technology and food processing techniques coming up everyday, ultimate consumers are becoming less and less aware of their food’s origin.

In recent times there has been an exponential increase in the number laptop user. Almost all of us are gradually shifting from desktops to laptops. With the flourishing number of laptop users, there has been an ever-increasing number of neck, shoulder and back pains associated with it. Specially the compact size of laptop has allowed us to carry our system to all distant parts (both outdoors and indoors). We use laptop on sofa, on kitchen top, on bean bag, on bed even in bathroom.

Earlier few days I was reading this article on Common Laptop Positions To Avoid. It was a nice informative article. Here is a pictorial description of different laptop use positions and red circles show the associated pain points induced by them.

The illustration above—from weblog Core77’s netbook case study—highlights ten common usage positions and the pain points you’re asking for down the road with each. (No one wants glowing red joints!) Interestingly, the most comfortable position, according to the study, is position #2 above: lying down with the device slightly elevated on the user’s thigh with bent knees.

Not infrequently we tend to use our notebook on bed. It gives the comfort of bed and yet allows to display ‘I am working’ special effects. But such pleasure at work has its cons. In the article above they have shown a female subject for illustration. Most comfortable position (#2) says to keep laptop between pelvis and knees in a bent position. Apart from ladies, others are in a potential danger here.

Now back on eggs. The white of an egg (Abumin) is mainly protein. This protein provides necessary nutrients for the growth and development of fetus. When an egg is boiled, it coagulates. The proteins in it begin to unfold and lose their specific structures. Thermal denaturation of protein structure is an irreversible change. Once the heat source is removed and cooled, proteins do not go back to its initial state. A boiled egg thus retains its solid structure even after it is cooled. Denaturation of protein also inhibits any destined formation of fetus. No matter how long you hatch a boiled egg will never reproductive again. WordNet has a bit different view towards egg. According to them-

(n) testis, testicle, orchis, ball, ballock, bollock, nut, egg (one of the two male reproductive glands that produce spermatozoa and secrete androgens) “she kicked him in the balls and got away”

The problem in working with laptop is its overheating. Some antique laptops are pretty hot indeed! At times they get so hot that if you keep it on bed the bed-cover might catch fire. Your laptop might be working fine but never underestimate collateral damage. All eggs has protein in it. And almost all protein chains lose its original structure when heated. And I repeat, boiled egg never give offspring. Married-men who has kids and doesn’t wish for more are in an advantage here. Young-adult men need to take a note here, Do not keep laptop on your lap. The heating zones of a laptop sometimes seems to be strategically positioned to favor maximum damage to male gonads. This is a scientific hypothesis backed up by logic. This arises another important question. Should men also refrain from taking a warm jacuzzi or steam-bath? No satisfactory answer is found for this question. Further research is needed in this field.

In the struggle for survival, the fittest win out at the expense of their rivals because they succeed in adapting themselves best to their environment.- Charles Darwin

Natural selection has ensured survival of the fittest. (Look at the mutation in the next generation boys. They know the proper posture for using laptop. While girls are left as before.)

  1. The aztecs called the avocado tree “ahuacatl”, or “testicle,” because the shape made them look like green/purple testicles hanging from a tree. (Does it worry no one else that the consumption of avocados is excellent for the female reproductive system?)
Also, in mexican spanish, “huevo” means both egg and (euphemistically) testicles.
That is why I don’t want my egg and guacamole to mix. I’m fine with man-on-man action, but I prefer not to eat it.

    I’m sorry you were saying?

Oh yeah, http://rijuta.multiply.com/journal/item/21 is something I’d blogged way back. If you love someone, barf them free.
